Pitchfork pizza party: a slice of Marietta

The Background

The Marietta community is excited to welcome its newest food spot, Micah Angelo’s Pizza. This place is owned by a family, Micah Pfister and his wife, Katie, who have already run several popular restaurants in the historic Marietta Square.

They wanted to make a smaller, more comfortable dining experience and grow their successful Sessions Stand. With three kids and a strong love for their community, Micah Angelo’s Pizza shows their dedication to family and good food. Micah had a pizza oven stored for almost ten years, waiting for the right time to start his dream.

“The pizza oven had been sitting in storage for years and when we relocated the bakery, it seemed like the perfect opportunity for the beginning stages of a new restaurant,” Pfister said.

Now, the oven is in the old Sessions Stand space, and the original cafe has moved to a bigger location just down the street, helping both eateries flourish.

Micah Angelo’s Pizza’s story started well before it opened its doors. The Pfisters chose to sell one of their thriving eateries on Marietta Square in 2018.

This decision kicked off their plans to grow. Not long after, Mac’s Chophouse came to the Pfisters with a proposal to take over the lease of their other restaurant.

This allowed Micah and his wife move their bakery to a bigger building. However, expanding was not easy. The food industry is very demanding, needing constant effort and hard work. But the Pfisters didn’t give up.

“You have to love it. The food industry is not an easy business to be in, and if you want to be successful, you need to be passionate about your food,” Pfister said.

This small establishment has already had a large impact on the community. Wood-fired and authentic, Micah Angelo’s pizza transports you to a small, ambient Italian courtyard. The customers lined the street, excited to get a taste of Marietta’s latest eatery.

“I have been a long-time customer of Sessions Stand, and when I heard that the Pfisters were opening a new restaurant, I was ecstatic. Their pizza did not disappoint. The place’s atmosphere was comforting like no other. Micah Angelo’s is the perfect spot to sit back, relax, and enjoy good food,” a customer said.

Pitchfork’s Review

Every issue, the Pitchfork staff will review local businesses. This edition, we visited soon after Micah Angelo’s opening to see what all the enthusiasm was about. The staff members each ordered a slice of pizza of their choice and sat down for a shared meal and a valuable bonding experience.

Customers situated themselves on a cozy patio, with lights streaming down from the canopy. Each slice was cooked to perfection, with a golden-brown crust that was soft on the inside and crunchy on the outside. All the flavors of the sauce, cheese, and seasoning came together to create their infamous pizza.

Additionally, the ambiance makes for a casual evening, where customers can settle down and unwind from their hectic lives. The staff was friendly and attentive, making us feel right at home. The resounding consensus: the pizza is phenomenal.

Micah Angelo’s Pizza, now a key part of Marietta’s lively food scene, is more than just a pizza place. It shows the Pfister family’s dedication, hard work, and passion for connecting people through great food. Micah Angelo’s Pizza will surely become a favorite with its friendly, welcoming atmosphere and tasty dishes.
