Gripe On Gripe: Spotify vs. Apple Music

Why you should choose Apple Music

Noah Moore

Studies show that the average teen listens to around 4 or more hours of music a day, and with all this listening many find themselves struggling to decide between two music streaming services, Apple Music and Spotify. You should be listening on Apple Music instead of Spotify because they support and pay their artists more than their competitor.

Being strapped for cash is an essential part of the teenage experience, so most teens are careful about where they spend their precious dollars. You may be tempted to choose Spotify’s free version but it’s important to consider where your dollars are going when you pay for an Apple Music subscription. Every time you listen to more than 30 seconds of a song on Apple Music, the artist who made it gets $0.01. That may not sound like much, but it’s a fortune compared to the $0.005 per steam Spotify pays their artists. By choosing Apple Music over Spotify, you are choosing to pay your favorite artists rather than a CEO.

Why you should choose Spotify

Students struggle to find good and reliable options to listen to music on the go. The two biggest competitors, Spotify and Apple Music. Spotify gives a free and premium to any users that sign up but also gives free trials for certain periods of time. Apple Music doesn’t offer a free version for their music app. Also Spotify offers blends: where you can combine you and your friends music taste to create a playlist.

You may be persuaded to buy Apple Music, but choosing between Spotify and Apple Music is a tough decision. Deciding how much to spend and what features are included in the subscription makes it worth buying. But once you choose to buy Spotify, it will be the best option you would have ever made because of all the features that are included in the subscription. The biggest feature of Spotify Premium (or a Spotify subscription) is the absence of ads, as well as the ability to listen to music even when you have no cell service or Wi-Fi. Choosing Spotify over Apple Music is showing that you like listening to music, even though it has ads or doesn’t.

Which is better?: Spotify v/s Apple Music
