Sweet Living Bakery is a new bakery on Whitlock, owned by Daysha Mayfield, and it has quickly become a community favorite.

“We love desserts, and we always wanted to start our own bakery, so we decided to open a bakery in this area,” Mayfield said.

The goal was to create a welcoming, community-based business where people could gather and enjoy high-quality baked goods.

“The most rewarding thing is when people come in here and enjoy what they’ve gotten so far because you never know when you open up a place,” Mayfield said.

The bakery has received an outpouring of positive feedback, which has been a source of encouragement for Mayfield and her team. However, one challenge they face is their location, as the bakery is slightly tucked away in a plaza, making advertising a bit difficult. Despite this, word-of-mouth has been strong, and customers continue to return for their delicious treats. Mayfield’s favorite item is the rich and decadent brownie cake, while her husband, Mark, prefers the classic carrot cake. A fan favorite among customers is the soft, gooey cinnamon rolls and the delicious sliders.

Beyond serving sweet treats, Sweet Living Bakery is dedicated to giving back to the community. They regularly support local ministries by collecting items for those in need.

“We did coats for the winter and in the next couple of months we’re going to start doing a food pantry,” Mayfield said.

Community members who want to contribute can bring non-perishable or canned food items to Sweet Living Bakery, where they will be donated to MUST Ministries, a local organization that supports families in need. By partnering with MUST Ministries, the bakery not only serves delicious baked goods but also plays a vital role in helping those who are struggling in the community.

Sweet Living Bakery has quickly become more than just a business. It’s a place where people come together, share kindness, and make a positive impact. Whether enjoying a treat with friends or donating food, the bakery fosters a sense of connection and generosity. Through their commitment to both baking and giving back, Sweet Living Bakery is creating a lasting ripple effect in the community, encouraging others to join in and support those in need.

Pitchfork Review

This Pitchfork review took us to Sweet Living Bakery, located off Whitlock, hidden in the Clocktower Plaza, where we experienced its warm and inviting atmosphere. We ordered an iced coffee, hot chocolate, a cinnamon roll, and avocado toast—all of which exceeded expectations. Everything was well-made, with care put into every ingredient, making each dish feel like a labor of love. Customers can seat themselves in a cozy, quiet setting that feels both relaxing and welcoming. The bakery’s atmosphere draws in many visitors, eager to enjoy the peaceful vibe.

The cinnamon roll stood out as the favorite item, boasting perfect texture and a sweet flavor that made for an unforgettable treat. With so many tempting options on the menu, it was hard to decide which item to choose from.

The staff was incredibly kind, ensuring that every guest felt at home. The bakery itself is beautifully decorated with pops of color, flowers, and inspiring Bible verses, creating a peaceful yet vibrant space perfect for relaxation. Whether you’re looking for a study spot, a quick breakfast, a delicious lunch, or just a midday treat, Sweet Living Bakery is a must-visit destination in Marietta’s thriving food scene—offering not only great food but also an atmosphere that makes you feel part of something special.
