This year, a dedicated group of students spent their spring breaks serving others on Fusion Youth Group’s annual mission trip to Costa Rica. The trip was filled with meaningful experiences aimed at bringing glory to God, building fellowship, and having fun.

While there, the students participated in a variety of service activities.

“We handed out food, played with kids, helped build an irrigation system, and prayed with the people there,” Harry Corr (10) said.

Corr and his cousin, Max Turner (10), both attended the mission trip for the first time this year.

“One thing that really stood out to me about the people we met was how friendly and open to making friends with strangers they were,” Turner (10) said. The group also took some time to explore the vast nature in Costa Rica.

“I gained a deeper sense of admiration for the beauty and magnitude of God’s creation,” expressed a group leader.

Jackson Borders (10) is a part of Fusion Youth Group and participated in the trip for the second time this year.

“I think that mission trips are important because as Christians, we are called to serve others. I have really learned a lot from seeing how those kids can have nothing and still be happy. It has taught me about the importance of being thankful for what I have,” Borders said. One of his favorite parts of the trip was getting to interact with native Spanish speakers. “I loved being able to take something I’ve learned in school and apply it in real life.” 

In addition to positively impacting those served in Costa Rica, the mission trip left a profound impact on the lives and characters of the students who participated in it. They took away invaluable lessons about service, compassion, and teamwork and gained a new sense of purpose that is sure to last a lifetime.
