Background
PITA Mediterranean Street Food is a family-owned business tucked into a corner of the Marietta Square Market. It is a small restaurant here, but it has full-sized locations in many places. It is mainly focused in Georgia, with over 30 restaurants, and there are also locations found in Florida and Alabama.
“This is kind of my go-to when I am here in Marietta. I love the flavors of the Mediterranean,” a customer at the market said.
The owner is a man named Nour Rabai. Born and raised in Beirut, Lebanon, he grew up with Lebanese culture reflected in his business and passion for food and cuisine. His goal with opening PITA was to share his experience and culture with everyone and simply make people happy with his food.
“Food is my passion, the best place when I’m in the kitchen cooking. Put me behind a grill in front of the line, making people’s food, that is where I find the most pleasure,” Rabai said.
He first began his entrepreneurship with a bar in 2010 in Peachtree City, Georgia. Unfortunately, the bar was a failure, but it led to PITA being created. The first location was established two years later, in December of 2012. From there, the business boomed and looks to be at its height, currently. We have high hopes for PITA and hope that it will only continue growing, with expanding to new locations.
Review
This location in the Marietta Square Market was established in 2019. Even with opening so close to the pandemic, they still managed to push through and maintain their good reviews during tough times.
PITA is known for the many different options it offers, and customers commented on how large the portions were.
“The pitas were huge. Chunks of steak were falling out of my pita as I planned the next bite,” a customer at the market said.
We tried a Signature Gyro from the menu. The meat was cooked to perfection and the tzatziki sauce only enhanced the flavor more. The crispy Greek fries on the side were doused in different sauces as well, creating a very distinctive taste that left us hungry for more.
