The Marietta Blue Devils boys lacrosse season has been defined by resilience, emerging talent, and close contests as the team battles through a competitive 2026 schedule. Sitting at a 6-6 overall record, the Blue Devils have proven they can compete with some of the top programs in Georgia, even as they continue to search for consistency.
A closer look at the stats reveals the team is driven by a strong offensive core. Junior attacker Rhett Schnatmeier has
been the standout playmaker, leading the team with an impressive 3.4 goals per game while also contributing over one assist per game. His ability to both finish and execute has made him the centerpiece of Marietta’s attack. Supporting him is junior midfielder

Jackson Nesmith, who adds 1.6 goals per game along with solid all-around help, including assists and faceoff contributions. Senior attacker Jackson Turner has also played a key role, leading the team in assists and helping to create scoring opportunities in tight games.
The Blue Devils’ offense has shown flashes of explosiveness throughout the season. In a thrilling 12–11 win over Harrison, Marietta demonstrated its ability to outscore opponents in high-pressure situations. However, the team has
also faced challenges against tougher competition, including losses to programs like Roswell and Lovett, where defensive struggles proved to be costly. Overall, Marietta has scored 76 goals while allowing 89, highlighting the need for more consistency on the defensive end.
Defensively, the Blue Devils are still developing but have key contributors stepping up. Sophomore defender Greyson Rusch leads the team in takeaways, while long-stick midfielder Max Turner has also made an impact in transition. In goal, junior Luke Begerow anchors the defense with a 0.563 save percentage, providing stability and keeping Marietta competitive in close games.
Another important aspect of Marietta’s game has been faceoffs, where junior Graham Shirley has emerged as a reliable presence, winning 57 percent of his draws. Possession has been a key factor in the team’s victories, especially in one-goal games like their recent 8–7 win over West Forsyth. These narrow

wins show that the Blue Devils can execute under pressure, even if results have not always gone their way.
Despite a losing record, Marietta remains competitive in the state landscape, currently ranked around the top 30 teams in Georgia. With region play still ahead, the Blue Devils have an opportunity to turn their season around and make a push for a postseason comeback. Their ability to compete in close games suggests that even a small improvement in defense or consistency could lead to a significant jump in results.
As the season progresses, the Blue Devils will rely on their offensive leaders and improving defense to find momentum. If Marietta can tighten up on the defensive end while maintaining its scoring production, the team has the potential to finish the season strong and surprise opponents down the stretch.
